This project began as an experiment with new materials, namely Pictorico paper and a generic soap-making kit from the craft store. Initially created in late February 2020, this project has sat abandoned for five years.
I regret not taking better images of the initial images. I thought I had more time. What I have learned since the beginning of the pandemic is that time is neither guaranteed nor predictable.
When I made these objects I was too impatient to create a years-long, time-based piece. I wanted everything to happen instantly. The pandemic forced me to slow down.
This project is a testimony to the passage of time. The objects I participated in creating deteriorate in similar fashion to the memories I also I also participated in creating.
